I began IVF at 41 with IVF success at age 44. I experienced secondary infertility as I gave birth naturally to a daughter at age 37. With IVF, it took me 3 egg retrievals and 4 transfers before we succeeded with our miracle baby Hannah.

I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). The first 2 times I did egg retrieval; I got COVID each time!  I think that hurt my chances for success.  During the first egg retrieval, we got 20 eggs and only 1 blastocyst.  We sent the embryo out for PGTA testing (very expensive!) and the testing came back with inconclusive results.  We went ahead and transferred the embryo, but it didn't stick.

The second egg retrieval at age 43 yielded 25 eggs, and we got 4 blastocysts.  We opted not to do PGTA testing.  I transferred 3 embryos at first, and got a negative test.  I transferred the remaining embryo and got a positive test!  Unfortunately, my blood test came back with a beta of less than 100, and it ended in a chemical pregnancy.  While this may seem discouraging, I was actually encouraged by the fact that I actually could get pregnant.  We decided to try again.

For the third egg retrieval, my husband and I took many supplements leading up to it.  I took 600 mg of ubiquinol for 6 months and my husband took Top-T, Enclomiphine, and Men's Alive multi-vitamin.  At age 43 and 9 months I got my best results yet!  20 eggs and 7 blastocysts!  We again, did not PGTA test.  We transferred 3 embryos on July 23, 2024, and being impatient, I got positive urine tests at day 5!

My husband and I were cautiously ecstatic.  When I went for a blood test, my beta was over 300.  That was a good sign!  We went on for a healthy pregnancy with a baby girl.  She was born 7 weeks and 1 day early, but baby Hannah was otherwise healthy and a great joy to our family. I support other families in their IVF journeys because it's never easy!  Baby dust to all!
